General Healthcheck
In this Practice I use what is called a body composition scale which offers a hugely comprehensive set of measurements including weight, muscle mass, visceral fat (fat around internal organs) overall body fat, metabolic rate (how many calories you burn off at rest) and body water percentage. It even gives your metabolic age.
We find this gives us an excellent baseline when improving patient health.

Comprehensive Health Assessment
The comprehensive health assessment additionally includes:
- Bloods tests - haematology, cholesterol, diabetes, liver and kidney, risk markers for heart disease and stroke
- Electrocardiogram
- Lung function testing
- Prostate tests for men over 45
- Cervical smear and HPV testing for women
- Mammograms by arrangement
We can provide prompt medical assessments to companies wishing to offer these as company benefit or which require them as a pre-employment requirement.
We also offer health assessments to individuals and families.
In fact, because we strongly believe in the promotion of preventative medicine, we are one of the few UK practices to have invested in a Cardio Health Station - this is ultrasound equipment for carotid artery scanning.

Memory Testing
A surprising number of things can affect your memory:
- Anxiety
- Dementia or early Alzheimer’s
- Depression
- Diabetes
- Menopausal Memory Change
- Sleep Deprivation
- Thyroid problems
- Vitamin B deficiency
For this reason we’re advising our over 50’s patients to take advantage of our comprehensive new memory tests. By identifying a baseline we have something to measure against for future treatment, for wellness plans, or should you have any future concerns about your cognitive function.
The system that we are using is highly validated. We offer a range of different tests for different situations.
- A 4 step test for people concerned about the effect of poor sleep has on their memory and cognitive function
- A 6 step test for perimenopausal and menopausal women
- An 8 step test for age related memory changes
- A 4 step shorter but highly accurate baseline general screening test
- A comprehensive 12 step test to assess a wider range of memory and cognitive functions.
The tests are e-mailed to you at home and take between 10 and 40 minutes to complete depending on the test. There are interactive test tutorials and you will find the tasks engaging and unintimidating.

Heart Risk Assessment
It's a sad fact that most victims of heart attack or stroke are caught completely off guard. Until recently doctors could only determine this happening to you by reviewing traditional risk factors like age, gender, "good" and "bad" cholesterol, smoking, blood pressure and family history.
Unfortunately this method is not conclusive which is why we were one of the few UK practices to have invested in a Cardio Health Station.
This provides a non-invasive ultrasound scan takes just 10 minutes and helps us more accurately determine your risk of heart attack or stroke and the best strategy for managing that risk.
The whole assessment costs £350 and includes:
- A carotid scan
- Bloods for cholesterol and diabetes
- Weight and visceral fat measurements
- Blood pressure
- 30 minutes personalised consultation
